Empowering the Future of Doddota Woreda, Ethiopia

At We Heart All, our Ethiopia program is focused on providing critical support to the children and families in Doddota Woreda—a community facing the devastating effects of prolonged drought, harmful traditional practices, and extreme poverty. Our mission is to create lasting change by addressing the barriers to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity, empowering children and women to build a brighter future.

Our Focus Areas:

🌟 Scholastic & Hygiene Support for Education
We provide essential school supplies and hygiene kits for children, ensuring they have the resources needed to stay in school, remain healthy, and continue their education without interruption. These materials help children focus on their studies, while hygiene items like soap and sanitary pads support their overall well-being.

🔨 School Renovation & Library Building
The local school, built by the community with great hope, has fallen into disrepair due to years of drought and a lack of resources. We are working to renovate the school, ensuring it is a safe and functional space for learning. We are also building a library with 300 books to provide students with the tools they need to improve literacy, broaden their knowledge, and dream beyond their immediate circumstances.

💡 Revolving Women’s Fund for Small Businesses
Many women in Doddota Woreda lack access to financial resources, which prevents them from starting or expanding their businesses. Our revolving women’s fund offers 0% interest loans to help women create sustainable businesses and gain financial independence. By empowering women, we are helping them support their families and contribute to the economic growth of their community.

📚 Community Education to Combat Harmful Practices
We are dedicated to educating the community about the dangers of harmful traditional practices, such as early marriage and gender inequality. By offering workshops and programs, we aim to shift mindsets and provide alternative opportunities for girls and boys alike. We believe that educating the community as a whole is crucial to creating lasting change and ensuring that all children, regardless of gender, have access to equal opportunities.

Why We’re Here:
The drought in Doddota Woreda has left families struggling to feed their children, leading to alarming levels of child labor and early marriage, especially for girls. Additionally, boys are often prioritized for education, leaving girls to carry the burden of domestic chores and caregiving. By providing access to education, promoting women’s economic empowerment, and challenging harmful traditions, we are helping to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter, more equitable future for all.

We believe that education, healthcare, and financial independence are the keys to unlocking a better future for Doddota Woreda. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of these children and families. Thank you for joining us in this critical mission.
